Beyond the impact of CLI young leaders’ community development and prosperity project achievements, the continuous increase of their level of critical thinking and argumentation in public debates on the socio-economic,political,ethical and cultural values of the DRC is the most impressive and long-lasting heritage being observed among the CLI Congolese youth in their surroundings on daily basis.
By comparing the state of most of selected youth before joining CLI programming to the way they are now, there are outstanding positive changes that they are experiencing themselves and being witnessed by people in their respective families and communities. This is actually praiseworthy!
I have discovered that enhancing the leadership and entrepreneurial skills and attitudes among the Congolese youth is the very right path, strategic and sustainable solution towards addressing the DRC’s failure for stable peace, emergence of strong government institutions, and people centered democracy and development.
Hence, the youth based leadership and entrepreneurship curriculum is a durable fortune for not only the youth benefiting directly from it but also for future generations and will remain the unforgettable legacy throughout the Congolese youth’s lives. If I may refer to Alexander Graham Bell, who once said:”what this power is I cannot say; all I know is that it exists and it becomes available only when a man is in that state of mind in which he knows exactly what he wants and is fully determined not to quit until he finds it.”
I am very optimistic that the CLI young leaders are increasingly being enabled, empowered and are determined to work for the comprehensive development and sustainable peace of their respective societies. As Charles de Gaulle put it, “nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so“.
This is how I usually inspire young leaders at our leadership institute centers. Most of the time I tell them that they are capable to make difference and I urge them to think about what values they need to add to the earth planet, in their families, communities to become influential figures and personalities at both national and international levels.
It should be noted that thanks to the various supports that friends of CLI and of the DRC bring in for the effective implementation of the programming, the true leadership spirit of the CLI USA based management team, the intrinsic motivation and commitment of the CLI DRC based team members to change the situation to the better; young leaders benefiting from CLI programming are already making a difference in their families and communities. As said by the former USA President Abraham Lincoln:”that some achieve great success is proof to all that others can achieve it as well”.
In the same vein, I strongly believe and without demur, that CLI young leaders will change the image and history of the DRC as one of the great role model and competitive nation in the world.
